It was a long silence from me, but we were cooking…. On 30 Mar 2026 we had a demonstration of a continuous heterocycle hydrogenation scale-up with @Robinson Brothers Limited.
We have adapted our multi-CSTR SABRe system for high temperature, high pressure, and introduced a bed of a supported nickel catalyst. Agitation improved gas-liquid mass transfer, eliminated local hot spots, and increased fluid velocity to ~100 mm/s compared to 0.1 mm/s as in the fixed bed. It was a collaborative project with funding from DESNZ. @Green Rose Chemistry, working on lifecycle assessment, estimated about ~80% emissions reduction (fuel, electricity…). Details will follow.
