Mechanical Design Engineer

We seek an engineer with knowledge of mechanical engineering to expand our new product line – the SABRe reactor enables transferring batch chemistry to continuous processing to save manufacturing costs and lead towards Net Zero.

Stoli Chem are an award-winning spin-out from the University of Warwick. We have clients in the chemicals industries ranging from pharma to bulk chemicals.

You will join our small team of chemists and engineers to make a real difference and develop new products. To scale up our reactors from laboratory to pilot scale and beyond. We are looking for an engineer with strong knowledge of mechanical engineering. The key requirements are the ability and knowledge of a CAD software, preparing production drawings, and generating new design ideas while understanding cost implications. Hands-on working is the key as you will be involved in assembly as well as prototyping including 3D printing and CNC machining in various materials.

Formal qualifications are secondary to enthusiasm, ability to learn, and practical demonstrable experience. We are keen on promoting equality and diversity. The position is fixed-term till the end of June 22, likely extension to a permanent; competitive salary. The work will be performed at our Wellesbourne premises.

Chemistry specialist

Are you looking to make a real difference, to design new products that simplify lives and contribute to sustainability?

You will be developing a new class of chemical reactor to chemical manufacturing faster, cheaper, and more sustainable; you will participate in developing case studies, customer interaction, and patenting our technologies. We are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience in experimental (preferentially organic) chemistry. Formal qualifications are secondary to enthusiasm, ability to learn, and practical demonstrable experience.

Who are Stoli Chem?

Stoli Chem are an award winning spin out from the University of Warwick. We design, manufacture and install new chemical reactor equipment with a focus on transferring batch chemistry to continuous processing.

We have a wide range of clients in multiple chemicals industries ranging from pharma to bulk chemicals. Our small team of chemists and engineers and is looking to expand. Our customer base is predominantly UK and EU clients, we are growing our export business to cover Asian and US markets.

Role & Responsibilities

Working for periods in Sales and R&D, gaining experience in a range of roles throughout the company:

  1. R&D activities

– Managing new projects from initial order through to project completion

– Generating relevant reactor case studies

– Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time and within budget

  1. New Product Lead Generation

– Generating sales leads to build and maintain a successful client base

– Developing an extensive knowledge of the market and competitors

– Maintain accurate and detailed records on the company database

  1. New Product Sales

– Actively managing smaller sales opportunities

– Communicating with buyers/customers in order to correctly quote and successfully close sales

– Developing literature & technical information for customers

  1. Technical support

– Liaising with clients and providing an initial contact point for customer queries, complaints & technical submissions

– Managing multiple projects at any one time

– Providing support and guidance to existing customers

– Producing quotations and chasing orders

– Identifying and communicating with customers to discuss their service requirements

– Troubleshooting to resolve technical/support issues

– Providing clear and concise instructions to engineering teams

Key Requirements (Qualifications & Skills)

Essential:

– Chemistry Graduate (minimum of 2:2 qualification)

– Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multi-task

– Excellent communication skills

– Fluent in English

– Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable:

– Full Driving License

– Previous experience of working in a business/professional environment

– Experience in organic synthesis

Part-time Research Assistant (remote)

We are seeking for a part-time research assistant to advance our new product line – the SABRe reactor enables transferring batch chemistry to continuous processing to save manufacturing costs and lead towards Net Zero.

To start with, the role is simple. You need to explore and identify potential contacts (customers) for us in Europe and list the relevant people for us to approach following our targets. Some knowledge of chemistry is beneficial but not required. It is quite simple and you could do it in spare time, fully remotely.
